History of Woodbridge, CT
The town of Woodbridge is located in New Haven County, Connecticut. Woodbridge was originally called Amity. It was formed from lands that were part of New Haven and Milford and was incorporated as an independent parish in 1739. The modern town of Woodbridge is named after the Reverend Benjamin Woodbridge. Today, Woodbridge is a mostly suburban community. The town center, known as Woodbridge Green Historic District, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
